will.i.am celebrates 2NE1 member CL’s belated birthday

Rapper, composer, and producer will.i.am is currently in Korea for his ‘Will I Am In Seoul‘ show atclub ANSWER, and it looks like he has also been spending time with some of the biggest names in K-pop.

Not only is hip hop group M.I.B his opening act at his event, will.i.am also snapped a photo with Super Junior‘s Choi Siwon and most recently shared the above photo with CL who recently celebrated her 21st birthday.

In addition to sharing the photo via his official Twitter page, he wrote, “Pisces birthday cake for CL in seoul korea at YG’s studio with 2ne1 recording…”

will.i.am and CL share the same astrological sign, as will.i.am is also a Pisces, born on March 15th.

Fans who saw the photo remarked, “aww. so sweet!”, “fresh new beats and cake, what better?”, and “We’re so excited to see what you’re going to make together!”

will.i.am has been spending more time in Korea and with 2NE1. Hopefully this means their collaboration project will drop sometime soon.

Netizen reports the average height of K-pop girl groups

A summary reporting the average height of today’s girl groups was posted online, drawing major attention from fans.

The girl groups were ranked in five different categories: Giant group, Tall group, Average Height group, Short group, and Shortest group.

The tallest girl group was Nine Muses whose average height was reported to be 171.9cm or over 5’7″, while Brown Eyed Girls was the shortest girl group, averaging at 5’2″.

Preview of new 2NE1 song with Will.I.Am!

There’s been a lot of news in the past about 2NE1 working with Will.I.Am on their US album.

Well, according to this fancam, 2NE1 made an appearance at the famous Club Answer in Seoul and Will.I.Am had played a snippet of their upcoming track at the club!

2NE1′s Minzy snaps a picture with Dougie + listens to Big Bang’s music

2NE1′s Minzy recently took a cute picture with her dog Dougie as she listened to songs from fellow labelmate, Big Bang.

On March 1st she tweeted the above picture with the words, “Dougie and Minzy“. As if sporting a ‘couple look’, Minzy and her dog are both wearing jackets with hoods over their heads as they look into the photo with wide eyes.

She also revealed her love for Big Bang’s music a few hours later, as she tweeted, “Blue..Bad Boy.. Such good songs ^^ The best~ Fantastic, BIGBANG!”

Upon seeing the adorable photo, netizens commented, “Minzy and Dougie look so similar,” “Cute hip hop couple. Dougie is cute!“, and “I’m listening to Big Bang’s songs too!”

Hip hop producer Swizz Beatz wants to see a collaboration between 2NE1 and Rihanna

World renown hip hop producer Swizz Beatz expressed his hopes to one day see a collaboration between Rihanna and 2NE1.

On February 20th, Swizz Beatz held a press conference at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul to discuss the growing impact of K-Pop on the global music industry.

Swizz Beatz revealed,

“I think Korea’s K-pop is a kind of expression. The world is looking for something new and K-pop is a new trend. I want to play a part in making Korean music known worldwide.

As I travel around the world, I learn about the sound of each country. I’m not only interested in hip hop, but other musical genres as well. For Korean artists, I think KARA, Big Bang,2NE1, and BoA (among other musicians) have many strengths. K-pop is an opportunity, and the future is bright.“

When asked about the potential for K-pop in the American pop music market, Swizz Beatz said,

“Although Korean people are accustomed to American pop music, K-pop may be unfamiliar to American people. However, the world’s hearts are open to music. K-pop has great potential. I think if 2NE1 and Rihanna got together, the effect would be great.“

Swizz Beatz has worked with top-tier artists such as Jay-Z, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kanye West, U2, and many others. He currently has a business partnership with Korea’s Omen Media and has a new project in the works.
