Big Bang’s ‘Alive’ ranks #7 and #4 on iTunes + sweeps domestic charts

Big Bang is back with a bang! Their album that just dropped earlier on February 29th is proving to be popular not only within Korea, but internationally as well!

With the release of the 5th mini album, ‘Alive‘, the album ranked #7 on the U.S. iTunes Album Chart, while it ranked #4 on the Canadian chart.

Quite an impressive feat, especially considering that these charts ranked the popularity of albums across all genres, rather than one specific genre.

The boys are no stranger to these charts as they ranked at #6 last year on the U.S. iTunes Album Chart with their 4th mini album, becoming the first Korean artist to rank in the top 10.

Needless to say, the boys have been sweeping the Korean music charts as well. All the tracks off ‘Alive’ has ranked in the top 10 on sites such as MelOn, Mnet, Bugs, Soribada, and Olleh Music.

In related news, Big Bang will be holding their first comeback performance through their ’2012 Big Show/Big Bang Alive Tour’ from March 2nd through the 4th.

Big Bang takes #1 on Billboard’s ‘K-Pop Hot 100′ chart

Despite some tough competition, to no one’s surprise, the boys of Big Bang came out on top to claim this week’s #1 on Billboard‘s ‘K-Pop Hot 100‘ chart.

The March 1st list shows Big Bang‘s “Blue” topping miss A‘s “Touch” and Lyn‘s “To Turn Back Hands of Time“. Other notables on the top 10 include K.Will with “I Need You” at #4, Ailee with “Heaven” at #5, John Park with “Falling” at #6, Davichi with “I’ll Think of You” at #7, and F.T Island with “Fiercely” at #10.

Big Bang has finally broken their long hiatus by unleashing their first title track, “Blue“!
“Blue” is a mellow mid-tempo track that sings of rejuvenation in the face of accepting sorrow and loss. It’s the perfect comeback track for Big Bang, who faced a difficult year in 2011 but are now ready to make their comeback as a stronger unit.
The single was released ahead of Big Bang’s new album, ‘Alive‘, to build anticipation for the full release. ‘Alive’ will drop a week later on February 29th.

Big Bang spotted filming ‘Running Man’

As Big Bang prepares to make a long awaited comeback, fans will be delighted to know that they will be making an appearance on SBS‘s ‘Running Man‘!

Recently, a post titled “Big Bang filming set of Running Man” has surfaced on various online community boards. The post features a photo of Big Bang members in the midst of filming an upcoming episode of Running Man. Fans were quick to notice members’ new hairstyles as well as the familiar Running Man uniforms.

While numerous Big Bang fans are eagerly anticipating the episode, one of the bigger points of interest is the reunion of the “Dumb and Dumber” brothers, Yoo Jae Suk and Daesung. Fans of popular SBS show ‘Family Outing‘ will remember the popular comedic combination of “Dumb and Dumber”, who gave viewers endless laughs with their hilarious antics.

Netizens displayed their anticipation for the episode by writing, “I am already so excited!”, “I can’t wait to see the reunion of ‘Dumb and Dumber‘”, and “Big Bang is back!”

Big Bang channels their inner ‘Rocky’ for Vogue Korea

With their highly anticipated comeback just around the corner, Big Bang continued to tease fans with a surprising transformation for ‘Vogue Korea‘.

Inspired by the famous blockbuster hit, ‘Rocky‘, Big Bang combined competitive boxing with fierce style to flesh out the pictorial’s ‘Fashion King‘ concept.

Each member was given a different role to play – Daesung was the laid-back fashion champion and Seungri became the contender fighting for the title. T.O.P played the stylish MC, while G-Dragonand Taeyang each donned the role of a fierce trainer.

Big Bang’s pictorial was shot on a cold day in an unheated basement, so officials were quick to compliment Seungri, who spent over three hours getting inked in the cold.

The group’s 16-page photo spread will be available through Vogue Korea’s March issue. In the meantime, you can check out a few cuts from their pictorial below:

Big Bang’s Seungri reveals that Daesung likes to walk around naked

Earlier this month,  SBS‘s ‘Healing Camp‘ paid a visit to YG Entertainment‘s office, where they interviewed Big Bang about their past 2,000 days together as a popular five member group. The boys even revealed hidden stories that have never been brought to light.

During the interview, Seungri shared a shocking secret about Daesung. “After Daesung’s body became really fit from working out, he liked to be naked..there was even a time when he passed through airport immigration naked.”

Another hidden story revealed how T.O.P mischievously made Taeyang desire an Olympic Gold medal.

Aside from stories, T.O.P, Seungri, and Taeyang showed off their cooking skills as they prepared a special meal for G-Dragon and Daesung. Additionally, a special surprise gift to the members will be revealed.

‘Healing Camp’ will air on February 20th at 11:15 p.m. (KST).

Will Big Bang really be able to promote six songs simultaneously?

We previously reported that top Hallyu group Big Bang are planning a comeback with a total of six title tracks. This has caused industry insiders to wonder how they will implement such a demanding promotion plan. It also begs the question of how successful they will be with this kind of unprecedented project.

In the past, singers who have had more than one title track has experienced a narrowing down to one main song, depending on the response of the public. For instance, when a comebacks features two or three title songs, the public is quick to determine their favorite track, which causes an automatic shift in promotions towards the popular song.

It seems that Big Bang aren’t deterred by such a history, for it’s been reported that they’re pulling out all the stops to ensure a successful six song blitz. They are planning a number of music videos that will showcase each song’s color and concept, and they have devised a plan that will allow them to overcome the two-song limit of TV promotions.

The individual members are also ready for the challenge. For each song, they have prepared a performance and concept that will let each members show off their unique colors. Furthermore, they have expressed their determination to allow each song to properly shine and prevent the bottleneck effect for one song.

A representative of YG Entertainment was quoted as saying, “It will not be an easy promotion, but we are carefully planning various strategies so that all of Big Bang’s songs will be able to show off their unique styles.”
